Under the direct supervision of Jason Craig, Chief Building Official, the Building Department is charged with the following responsibilties:
- Building Inspection is responsible for issuing permits for commercial and residential construction projects, performing related electrical, structural and plumbing inspections and enforcing compliance with local ordinance as they apply to these functions. Many of Building Inspection's informational handouts and required applications are available online in pdf format.
- Ordinance Enforcement responsible for enforcing city ordinances that address commercial and residential property maintenance, merchant licensing, and public health and safety issues.
- Rental Inspection. The Rental Inspectors perform regular checks of all apartments, hotels, motels, and houses offered for rent within the city. Many of Rental Housing Inspection's informational handouts and applications are available online in pdf format
