The Royal Oak Nature Society is hosting a “Nature Walk for the Physically Challenged” which is being held at the Arboretum on Sunday, October 24th, at 1:00 pm. Join us for a short (500 feet) walk down the cement sidewalk behind the Senior/Community Center. Many different trees, shrubs, and wildflowers are right along the pathway. The Royal Oak Nature Society is hosting a “Mushroom Walk” on Sunday, September 19th, 2010 beginning at 2:00 pm in Tenhave Woods. Park at the Lexington/Marais lot & meet at Lexington entrance.  Diane Pruden, an active member of the North American Mycological Association, will lead a mushroom survey of the park in the attempt to identify the mushrooms & fungus that we encounter.Read more »

Please join us on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 5 to 8 pm at the Madison Heights Big Boy located at 30460 John R. Rd.  (just south of 13 mile). The Madison Heights Big Boy will be donating 20% of all food purchases to the Royal Oak Senior Center.  Along with Big Boy donating 20% of your checks proceeds, there will also be raffles throughout the night! Flyers are also available at the Mahany/Meininger Senior Community Center and the Salter Community Center.

Celebrating 10 years of Shakespeare in the park, the Water Works Theatre Company presents 3 weeks of shows this summer. Two Gentlemen runs in Royal Oak's Starr Jaycee Park July 22 through August 8: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. One of the truly great community traditions in Royal Oak is the Red Run Golf Club Fireworks. The fireworks display will be on July 1st with a rain out date of July 2nd, 2010.
