In an effort to promote tornado safety preparedness, the Early Weather Warning System will conduct a special test of the outdoor warning siren system at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. (Special test in recognition of Severe Weather Awareness Week - April 11-17)

“Pond Life” is being held on Saturday, April 10th, 2010, 10:00 am at Tenhave Woods (park at Lexington/Marais lot & meet at Lexington entrance).  We will be sampling the vernal pond for what is living in it. We will have viewing trays to examine what we find. For those interested small aquarium nets will be available for you to catch your own pond life and have us identify. Helen Keller Elementary, a Royal Oak Elementary School, will be celebrating a new playground with a ribbon cutting scheduled for Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11:30 AM. The new playground is a barrier-free structure that will allow all of Helen Keller's students to be able to enjoy recess better. As a former middle school, Helen Keller inherited two baseball diamonds, a huge field and a couple of pieces of dated playground equipment, none of which was accessible to their physically handicapped population.Read more »
