Comcast Channel Realignment

Comcast system improvements and channel realignments are planned for August 18, 2010. Comcast is investing in and updating its cable system to better serve you. One of the changes is a realignment of channels. Significantly, your community’s public, education and government access channels, also known as PEG channels, are moving. We want to make sure you can easily find your local PEG programming in the new channel positions on the Limited Basic Service Tier.

Below you will see the four PEG channels dedicated to your community. Beginning August 18th, they will be found on channels 17-20 on a digital device/cable box, CabIeCARD or A-cable direct connection.

Channel 17: Royal Oak Government – WROK    (previously 55, or Cable A-17)
Channel 18: Public Access – CMNtv                   (previously 52, or Cable A-10)
Channel 19: Royal Oak Education – WOAK        (Previously 54, or Cable A-16)
Channel 20: Other Education Access

Comcast has voluntarily added Channel 20, an additional education access channel that aligns with an adjourning municipality in your area. Channel 20 will be one of the following education access channels: Clawson, Berkley, Birmingham or Ferndale. The PEG channels will be remain on the basic tier of service and will not require a cable box or other equipment to view with an A-cable direct connection.

Comcast is also improving its cable network to bring you more High Definition and On Demand content, faster Internet and advanced interactive services. To engineer more services, Comcast must realign approximately 43 channels, in addition to your local Public, Education & Government (PEG) access channels. Look for a new channel lineup card which will be sent to your home, along with a sheet of frequently asked questions. These channel changes will not affect the price of programming services.

All customers will receive notices detailing the channel placement changes, but we wanted to highlight the new channel numbers for the Public, Education and Government (PEG) access channels for your convenience.  These new channel numbers are one of the final steps in converting the dual cable system into a technologically advanced single cable plant.
