Along with the list of informational items at left for absentee voting, service clubs, directions to City Hall, etc., the following are a some Special Announcements:
- Notice of Public Hearings - Please take notice that the Royal Oak Liquor Control Committee will conduct Public Hearings on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 315 of Royal Oak City Hall, 211 Williams Street, Royal Oak, Michigan, 48067 regarding
1) Cantina Diablo, 511 S Main St
, Royal Oak, MI 48067; The applicants for this public hearing have requested to be removed from the agenda at this time.
2) PIADA L.L.C. (Mezza Mediterranean Grille) 212 W Fifth St, Royal Oak, MI 48067; a request for a new Development District Class C license to be located at 212 W Fifth, Royal Oak, MI 48067, Oakland County. This license will be in compliance with the Bistro concept as outlined in the City's Liquor Control Ordinance. It is the applicant's intention to apply for a Class C and SDM license with an Outdoor Service Area Permit, Sunday Sales Permit and Official Permit (food).
- Sign up here to be notified when new e-packet agendas, meeting minutes, videos and other City Commission meeting documents have been posted to the website and are available for viewing. City Manager updates and other valuable news items will also be included on a regular basis. This free subscription service will deliver the information to you as soon as it is available.
- Snow Emergency Information: A snow emergency is generally defined as "A Snowfall of Four Inches or More".
- Outside Burning: Royal Oak does not allow outside burning in portable fireplaces or in fire pits, but we do allow people to cook over Charcoal, Propane and Natural Gas. Residents with questions regarding the ordinance should contact the Fire Department at 248-246-3800 during normal business hours.
- Christmas Tree Collection - Trees will be collected curbside for recycling 12/28/09 - 1/15/10. Collection will occur on your regular trash day by a separate truck. Please place tree at the curb by 7:00am without decorations, lights, stands, and plastic bags.

- Power Spikes and Cable TV Don't Mix
Recent random power spikes and outages in the offices of WROK have interfered with the normal operations of our playback system and our bulletin board. Even though all of our critical systems are on UPS systems and battery back-ups, the surges still interrupt the system. The City of Royal Oak is working to wire new power lines to the WROK offices but until that can be accomplished the power spikes will continue to affect our systems. We apologize for the inconvenience. - Hockey Night in Royal Oak Returns, Be a Part of the Action!
The 2009/2010 season of Hockey Night in Royal Oak begins on November 4th. Live coverage of Royal Oak Hockey Association games from Lindell arena return at 6pm. Volunteers are needed for this exciting and fun production. The games take place at Lindell arena on Wednesdays, crew call at 4pm. You can join in on this exciting and fun production by calling 248-246-3040. This is the perfect learning experience for those interested in pursuing a career in TV production. - Liquor Control Committee Meetings now on WROK:
Live coverage of the meetings of the Royal Oak Liquor Control Committee takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. However only meetings featuring Public hearings will be recorded. Replays of the LCC meetings are Thursdays at Noon and Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm.

- Normal Siren Testing is the First Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m., with the following exceptions:
- In an effort to promote tornado safety preparedness, the Early Weather Warning System will conduct a special test of the outdoor warning siren system at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. (Special test in recognition of Severe Weather Awareness Week).
- Saturday, April 4 is cancelled due to the Severe Weather Awareness Week testing on the 1st.
- Siren tests are NOT conducted during December, January or February due to winter weather.
