Snow Emergency

A snow emergency has been declared in Royal Oak as of midnight, February 2. Snow Emergency conditions are generally defined as a snowfall of four inches or more and will remain in effect until your street has been plowed.  All vehicles on residential streets are to be removed or will be towed. Vehicles are to remain off the streets until plow trucks have gone through the area. Once a snow emergency is called and plowing begins, it takes approximately 24-36 hours to plow all city streets, depending on how much snow has fallen.Read more »

Fat Tuesday Fundraisers

Fur-Get Me Not

The animals at the Royal Oak Animal Shelter say "Fur-Get Me Not" this Valentine's Day.  Come see the wonderful adoptable cats and dogs at the shelter from 11am to 4pm on Saturday February 11th and meet your Valentine.  There will be special pricing in effect for this adoption event. Saint Patrick's Day Parade

The Norman O'Brien Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will host the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Royal Oak on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The parade is an event to honor and celebrate Irish family traditions to include demonstrating Irish pride and heritage. The parade route will begin at the Royal Oak Middle School parking lot and proceed south on Washington, passing the judges/announcer reviewing stand at the intersection of Sixth and Washington, turn west on Seventh St. and end at the St. Mary Church/School parking lot.Read more »

Dream Home Expo

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

On Thursday, February 16, the Oakland County Ancient Order of Hibernians is hosting an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Royal Oak. Everyone is invited. Please join us at VFW Post 1669, 214 E. Fourth St., Royal Oak MI 48067 on Thursday, February 16, 2012 anytime between 4:30pm and 7:30pm. Adults $10.00, Children (under 12) $6.00. All proceeds will go for parade expenses. The parade will be on March 10, 2012!

Fishes of Death Valley

On Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 the Royal Oak Nature Society will host, "Fishes of Death Valley" beginning at 7:30pm in the Royal Oak Middle School auditorium. Come and learn from Bob Muller, Royal Oak Nature Society Naturalist, about some of America’s most endangered and unusual wildlife. This is a free event and the public is invited. Owl Hoot Nature Walk

“Owl Hoot” is being held at Tenhave Woods on Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 at 7:30 pm.  Park & meet at the Lexington/Marais lot.  We will walk into Tenhave Woods and attempt to lure in or have screech & great horned owls answer tape recordings of their calls. Full Moon Walk

“Full Moon Walk” is being held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012, at 7:30 pm in Tenhave Woods.  Join with the Royal Oak Nature Society and experience the woods at a time of day that the park is normally closed.  You never know what you may hear and see when the light levels are low.  Bring a small flashlight.
